Population control
I've spent my free time during my vacation the past few days working on updating the demo that I put out last week. Folks on the Discord server were instrumental in finding a bunch of bugs and in offering some quality of life ideas. With this, Version 0.0.2 is out.
While I won't be putting out demos of the entire development of the game, I wanted to make this basic gameplay loop of breeding (at least for colors) widely available. Images for the bokes are still in progress (I'm slowly but surely putting together a plan for how to have the computer putting together the colors).
This update introduces two new locations in the village:
The graveyard: Bokes who have died will be displayed here along with their ID number (the order in which they entered your bokery). Currently no interaction is possible here, it is just a display area.
Manola Bugg: While this screen doesn't currently allow interaction with the character Mona Bugg, it does allow for the function. That is, select from a drop down list of your bokes (the lefthand side) those you would like to permanently remove from your game. You can multiselect by using Shift or Ctrl/Cmnd, then click Move Bokes to designate them as going to Mona's that night. Manola will pick them up at the end of the day, or you can click Send Bokes Now in order to immediately remove them. This is a non-reversible action, so make sure you are certain!
Other quality of life:
- The "Back" button on the nest screen takes you back to the enclosure, or if your boke is a nursling and still with their parents, back to the den screen.
- You can use the right and left arrow keys or the buttons on the nest screen to cycle between bokes in the enclosure, or if the boke is a nursling, between their siblings in the same litter.
- The enclosure and den screens display helper icons: male or female symbols on the left, and a in heat (dark red heart), paired (two circles together), or light pink heart (cooldown) on the right.
And bug fixes:
- Modifying enclosure settings no longer duplicates boke display.
- Renaming a boke no longer also moves it.
- It's no longer possible to erase the enclosure name.
- The game used to crash upon some boke deaths due to an indexing issue and it no longer does that.
